Here is the thing, North Korea has long been involved in a nuclear program. The real purpose for that program was to create a problem for its neighbors and Western powers (mainly the U.S.) that might allow for incentives (food) to be given as compensation for its tearing down that very program. I want you to look up at the woman. Her name is Izabella Scorupco. You may know her from her role as a Bond girl in Goldeneye. If it were not for her and her… assests, Cougar Club would have gotten only one star(*). This should help explain what the ratings on the Movie Reviews mean. Read more »

Masterful! WALL·E is the most endearing and likely enduring characters of PIXAR’s recent magic. Brought to the brink of tears and the convulsions of laughter and gripped by the visual beauty, the experience was beyond anything I had expected. Read more »

Yet again, I was not sure what to expect from this film. The previews looked interesting, but who is to know from one minute of cut scenes. Barnes & Noble had a copy of the compilation of comic books the movie is based on and I had glanced at a few pages. I realized that the woman Angelina Jolie’s character was portraying was black in the comic book. Other than that, I gained no real insight. Read more »

Is milk a panacea? Milk is not usually a hot topic of conversation. Do not get me wrong, there have been great bets in college to drink a gallon in an hour. There was that time the milk smelled so bad, I threw out everything in the fridge. Oh, and that night I poured milk all over her… All that aside, milk is usually a bland and creamy delicious part of the day I just do not feel the need to discuss, but apparently all that has changed. It took many years and much internal debate for me to finally watch this film. It was something about the demonic premise, the alternative super hero, and the fact that I just did not feeled compelled to see the movie. Then, this summer I saw a preview for Hellboy 2 and it looked kind of cool. Hellboy, the main character seemed like he had a wry humor and somehow it reminded me a little of The Fifth Element. Something about the hodgepodge of strange looking, fairly comical characters and the annoyed, sarcastic hero really got me wanting to know what it was all about. Being somewhat anal, I decided I had to see the first before I could see the second and so I queued it up on my Netflix account. It was much more than I had hoped for. Read more »

Coming into this film I was expecting a movie that would outperform the first (less than stellar) Ang Lee version starring Eric Bana. I was right, but it gave me more than I expected. Read more »

Well, as we all know, House has not been so kind as to grace us with anything new in a long while. He is not slated to do so until September 16, 2008 (aptly the day after my birthday). At first I was lost and alone without my friend and fellow do-badder, but I have learned to cope. I got my uncle hooked on the show and was forced to relinquish my first season DVDs over to him. He has only recently finished them off and I have delivered him season 2 for his viewin pleasure. I was going to jump in immediately and begin watching seasons 1,2,3 & 4 again, in a run up to the next season, but I decided I would hold off until later and let the desire build(like an opium addict, it is so much better after a few months of miserable cleanliness).
This would be an unbearable situation if not for another Hugh Laurie show I am now devouring. Jeeves & Wooster, is an old school British Comedy of Errors from the Masterpiece Theater. Whoa! Never thought I would be writing about how much I enjoyed Masterpiece Theater, but I guess all those years of watching it with my dear old grandparents have affably affected me. Read more »
