  5. I was really hoping Carriekalidescope would put her two cents in on this one. Oh well. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous to not let gay couples get married and recieve the benefits of getting married. Why not? They aren’t bothering anyone. Who are we to try and control who people marry? That and aren’t we supposed to be open-minded as Americans?

  7. That’s all you’ve got Carrie? Seriously? I was expecting a speech with Bible verses and what not. It is easy to copy and paste a definition of the word marriage! I could have looked that up myself. But I guess it’s better that you didn’t say more. You didn’t contradict yourself this time! Congrats!

  8. Wow, a bit a a cat fight a going on here. I like! A fair point you raise with the definition, but you have to ask yourself who wrote it and when. We know the origin of when as 14th century. I assure you there were plenty of gay princes back in that day (see Braveheart) but this was definitely frowned upon as one of the prime concerns of people of earlier eras was to procreate to ensure their line continued as well as to help out on the farm, so gay marriage didn’t make since to many because of this. The who is the most important question, and we all know the church had a massive amount of power by this time and influences in all written and historical text. Ipso facto, you get the true origin of the definition.

However, I do enjoy how our esteemed intellectually active person can find a way to argue with herself. I find that to be well beyond the reaches of my cerebral cortex. But I’m sure they make pills to correct that so I will be on your level soon.

MisterNiceGuy, what you are doing is stupid, how could you write such idiotic things, I would never write such things.

    yada yada

  9. I don’t think understand why people are so up in arms against gay marriage. All of these bible-thumping christians are so against people of the same sex getting together. Why? Because the best selling book in the world said so? Its almost as if they think that by letting gays get married it means their own marriage is a sham of some sort and I don’t get that. People also always say, “in the bible is says a man and a man cannot lay togther blah blah blah”. But the truth is that they do lay together. The gay community is very large. Just by denying them the ability to get married isn’t going to make there be less gays in the world. Marriage is a contract and nothing more. I’m sure its more than that to the people involved but not from a legal standpoint. So why deny them the slip of paper saying that they are committed to each other? It’s un-American to deny American Citizens the right to marry who they want. Shit, as long as they are marrying another human being and not a fucking capebarra I don’t see what the problem is.

  10. Mr. Nice Guy before you start insulting people you should probably learn to spell correctly or else what you are saying won’t make “since.”

  11. I tend to agree with the idea that its a personal contract between people. I’d even go so far as to support polygamy, the other wives or husbands have to agree to the addition of a new spouse (signatures of all required to sanctify the union in law) and the more spouses the less tax breaks but I see no reason to deny the contract.
