the microcosm

Another way to spend my evenings.

Hell’s Kitchen Season 4, Episode 6

Last night was shocking.

Things are getting chippy in Hell’s Kitchen on both sides of the kitchen. The women are bickering, Corey keeps picking on Christina and Shayna, and the men — mostly Ben and Bobby — are ganging up on “Matty” like they did to Jason and Craig.

Hell’s Kitchen is going to be a battleground from here on out.

Presidential Nomination

I have searched for some truth in this year’s presidential nominees and I have not found much.  I am probably going to vote for John McCain and God willing he will win, but I would have loved if we could have had Mike Huckabee as our nominee.  I almost always vote Republican, but not because of their ideas about the economy and taxes, but because they are not so socially liberal.

As you can imagine I don’t support gay marriage, abortion, stem cell research and many other popular sinful ideas.  They are immoral, in my views, and are more important to me than whether or not taxes are high or low.  I actually think if there was a Democratic nominee with really conservative values I would vote for him.  I like that Democrats want to look out for the hard workers and poor people, although if churches were more valued in our society they could do that.

I like Barack Obama, but I cannot vote for him.  He is charismatic when he speaks, but I think he is too weak on foreign policy.  I want to think that I am safe and that we do not have to roll over whenever people do not agree with us.  That is probably the main reason for voting for McCain.  Plus, Obama’s father was a Muslim, and whatever people may think, that will affect the way he views things.

Hillary Clinton.  I don’t even want to get started on her.  She is so two faced.  I can just tell half of what she says is an act, like the sniper-fire comments.  I can just see Bill Clinton stealing the show if she won.  It would be like his third presidency.  Plus, I am not much in favor of female politicians.  Not because I do not think we can do the same job, but because many other countries are backwards and will not give us the same respect with a woman as president.

I really wish Mike Huckabee had won the nomination.  His ideas about saving the environment are different from a lot of Republicans.  He is a good Christian and a preacher.  He has a strong stance on foreign policy and will not give in to our enemies.  Israel belongs to the Jews, it is their God-given right and he vows to protect them from all the terrorists that want to kill innocent Jews.  He would have been a good president and popular.  He’s a good speaker, but we don’t vote with our hearts anymore.  We vote with our wallets and who we think has a better chance of winning.  Politics is such a dirty job.
